Rare Bird is both a place and a gathering—where art, music, and nature intertwine. Rare Bird Farm is a rustic, intimate setting, and Rare Bird Cultural Arts is the heart of its programming, bringing world-class performing arts, workshops, and deep creative experiences to life. We are a listening venue, where every event is designed for presence and connection. Whether inside the barn with just 75 people or on the terraced hillside with around 150, every note resonates, and every story is heard. It’s a place where artists and audiences meet in a shared experience—like a performance in your living room with good friends, but surrounded by fresh air, rolling hills, and the undeniable magic of this land.

We operate May through October, hosting events on weekends only, with most shows happening on Saturdays. Our schedule varies, so be sure to check it—if there’s no event listed, we’re not open.

Each event is unique, so please check the show page for details.

We plan to have a food vendor on site for every show. There are a few different vendors. Ticket holders will be emailed prior to the show with updates on who will be serving food for the given show. You are welcome to bring your own picnic as well. There will not be food available for workshops but you are welcome to bring your own picnic.
-
We are in a dry county and cannot sell alcohol so if you want to consume alcohol, you must bring your own. We will sell an assortment of locally made non-alcoholic drinks and water.
-
If an outdoor show, bring a camp chair and/or a blanket, bug juice and sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, farm appropriate footwear. Remember it’s always chillier up here in the mountains and can be windy. Credit card, cash, or Venmo for merch.
-
If a show is sold out, it will be noted on the ticket page. We strongly encourage purchasing tickets in advance—not only does it help us prepare, but it also saves you money, as tickets at the door are priced higher.

We strive to accommodate everyone to the best of our ability, though some aspects of our venue may present challenges. If you have any accessibility concerns or need assistance getting from your car to the venue, please reach out to us in advance. We are more than happy to help with mobility needs or other accommodations to ensure you feel welcomed and comfortable.on

We do our best to not cancel a performance in advance. If it rains, we can move everyone into the barn, and under tents and the show will go on. Weather conditions can vary greatly even within our small geographic area—while it may be storming in Asheville, it could be clear in Spring Creek. However, in the case of dangerous weather or hazardous road conditions, we will assess the situation and communicate any necessary changes as soon as possible. Your safety is our priority.
-
Parking is limited in our front cow pasture, so we encourage carpooling. A short walk over the creek leads to the venue. If you need help carrying belongings, follow signs for the designated drop-off area before parking.
-
Reach out in advance, and we’ll do our best to uphold a No One Turned Away for Lack of Funds policy for performances. This does not apply to workshops unless the instructor can offer it.

No, but our neighbor does. https://mountainfiesta.com/

Depending on the event, we are happy to talk it through!
-
Absolutely not! We are a listening venue that values respect for the land, our neighbors, and each other. Our events reflect our own pace—thoughtful and intimate. We like to be in bed by 10pm, keeping the farm peaceful for both humans and animals.
